Denny Sadowski and George Wessberg proudly represented Hawaii at The Western Open in Stockton, CA on July 21-22, 2012. The conditions were beautiful and both of us shot quite well. In fact, George (C1) posted a 99 in the 28g event after missing L4 in the first round. But that wasn’t the highlight of the weekend.
Neither Denny or George realized this was the shoot where history was made in 1967 when Kenny Barnes shot the first 400×400 using four different pump shotguns and in very windy conditions. On Saturday while waiting at Field 9 to shoot the 12g a gentleman approached us and asked, “I heard you guys are from Hawaii. Do you know my friend, Jimmy Austin?” George said, “Yes, he is a friend of mine, too.” The man responded, “Tell him Kenny Barnes said Hello!”
