John is a former five-time NSSA World Champion and master instructor for skeet and sporting clays. He has authored numerous articles in Clay Target Nation and is the author of two books, The Moment of Truth and the newly released A Method for the Magic. Mike Cullen is Shoot Director for the Hawaii State Skeet Championships which will be held at Schofield Rod & Gun Club on September 16 -18, 2016.

John Shima conducted another series of sold-out skeet clinic sessions for members and guests at SRGC on Easter Weekend. Several of the new shooters expressed a strong desire to pursue shooting as a new hobby. John’s next clinic will be November 23-27, 2016. Mike Cullen was Shoot Director for the Annual Hibiscus Open held at Schofield Rod & Gun Club on March 20, 2016. It was a beautiful day for this 5 x 50 NSSA registered event. Results in Comments:
Bruce Barrett, a Life Member and former Vice President of SRGC, came to visit the club on February 14, 2016. Bruce was active in the club more than 25 years ago and donated the 100 amp Onan Electric Generator in July 2014. Every time we lost power to SR-5 it was “Good Old Bruce” that cranked up and kept the trap machines running.

John Shima conducted three full days of skeet clinics at Schofield Rod & Gun Club on November 27-29, 2015 for members and guests. Almost 6,000 targets were shot by the participants. The new Laporte Skeet Machines operated flawlessly. John will be available for another clinic March 25-27, 2016.

Mike Cullen was Shoot Director for the 2015 Hawaii State Skeet Championships at Schofield Rod & Gun Club on September 18-20, 2015. There were 17 participants entered in various events. Tai Chong-Horen was Champion-HOA and Champion-HAA with Roy Enomoto the Runner-Up-HOA. One of the highlights of the weekend was Roy Enomoto’s 100 x 100 in the 12g event. Mike Yoshida, Alden Almeida and Laughlin Tanaka were referees and scorekeepers all weekend. Results posted in Comments.

Mike Cullen, the Shoot Director for HSSA Registered Shoots and the Hawaii State Skeet Championships on September 18-20, 2015, introduced his new Kolar Max Skeet Special to Schofield Rod & Gun Club on Saturday, August 22. The first box went well, then Mike ran 25 straight shooting the Shima Incomer Drill.

The State Shoot is just a month away. Mike has planned an enjoyable weekend for shooters of all skill levels as well as competitive shooters. There will be good food and great prizes for participants. Mike encourages everyone to contact him by email to pre-register for specific events so he can arrange squads and plan for food and prizes. Donations of factory shells and gift cards will be greatly appreciated.
The new Laporte skeet machines were installed during the past month with considerable help from Ross Putnam, Steve Esona, Dean Spencer, Mike Cullen and Dale Moriguchi. Mike Cullen shot the first round of skeet thrown by the new machines last Sunday afternoon. George Wessberg shot the first 25 straight. They operated flawlessly during the first weekend of operation on August 7 & 8. A big Mahalo to all the generous donors, volunteers and members of SRGC for supporting this transformation of the right field.

John Shima will return to SRGC to conduct skeet clinics on November 28, 29 and 30, 2015. There will be 4-5 shooters in each half-day session of four hours. Cost is $290 per shooter plus target fees and your own ammo. There are only a few spaces available and preference is extended to SRGC members and active duty military.
